The Queens Park Environmental Education Centre (QPEEC) is located adjacent to the Queens Park Cafe in the heart of Ipswich’s premier parkland. The Centre showcases environmental education exhibits highlighting Ipswich’s unique natural environment and waterways. These interactive displays have been on view for over a decade. To ensure ongoing relevance, upgrades were required. These upgrades introduced technology that supports dynamic, non-static displays which can be regularly updated. This approach allows the Centre to remain engaging and reflective of the latest environmental messages and educational goals.
The project was targeted to achieve the following outcomes:
- Design of non-static upgrades to facilitate rotating educational messaging.
- Update and introduce new information to attract both new and returning visitors.
- Develop new initiatives and activities for volunteers to enhance public interaction.
The upgrades were completed in a short period between school holidays and educational events to allow the Centre to re-open in a timely manner. Modern flooring selections have given the Centre a new lease of life, as has the creation of a theatre room and administration facilities.
